MELANGE-STRIKE

Melange comes from French and means “mix.” In textile production, the mixing occurs at the fiber level, where different colors are blended before the fibers are spun into yarn. This creates a lively, mottled expression. The technique has roots back to the first mechanized textile factories in the 19th century, where it was discovered that color mixtures not only created beautiful shades but also made the fabric more practical – dirt and wear are less visible in mottled textiles.

Today, melange is also an aesthetic detail – it is a technique that fits perfectly into a circular mindset. By mixing different yarn scraps, we can give new life to materials that would otherwise go to waste, while also creating completely unique and beautiful color plays.
